Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author and dynamic speaker reveals the lack of education conventionally trained physicians receive about pain treatment and management. ROCKVILLE, MD. November 29, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new article on his website entitled “Conventionally Trained Physicians Get Less Than 2-Hours Of Education On Pain.” Dr. Rosa encourages action and provides a link where readers can sign a petition calling for a Pain Parity Treatment Act.

After pointing out the numerous options available through insurance that don’t work, including opioids, surgeries, injections and more, Dr. Rosa states, “The sad and seemingly criminal truth is that people in pain are being denied insurance coverage for safer, more effective treatments including physical therapy, massage, chiropractic, biofeedback, acupuncture, marijuana, low level laser therapy, psychotherapy, nutritional and herbal interventions and more.” He acknowledges that, “In some cases, such as with chiropractic and physical therapy, some insurance covers limited treatment. But far too often the coverage isn’t appropriate for the correct term of treatment.”

Dr. Rosa urges, “We need a law that requires health insurance companies to cover all proven effective treatments for pain to the same degree that they cover pharmaceuticals. We also need a law that requires physicians to be educated about the other alternative therapies.”
