National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa Reveals That Myofascial Pain Syndrome Is Often Misdiagnosed Leaving Those Who Have It Suffering Due To Incorrect Treatment.

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author, and dynamic speaker, reveals that many people suffering from Myofascial Pain Syndrome are incorrectly diagnosed and subsequently treated incorrectly. He also reveals there are many natural, safe ways to correctly diagnose and treat this syndrome.

ROCKVILLE, MD. May 26, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new blog on his website entitled “You Could Be Unknowingly Suffering From Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS).” Dr. Rosa provides valuable information for anyone who may be unaware that they are suffering from MPS because of misdiagnosis.

Dr. Rosa states, “Myofascial Pain Syndrome is a common yet often misdiagnosed cause of chronic pain.” He continues, “The misdiagnosis is often due to a lack of specific laboratory indicators and imaging evidence. For this reason,” he notes, “MPS is often confused with other conditions including fibromyalgia and pain from degenerative changes in the intervertebral discs.”

According to Dr. Rosa, “MPS typically occurs in muscles that are repetitively contracted. The repetitive motion causes sensitive pain – or trigger – points that radiate pain upon compression in the impacted muscle as well as in other parts of the body.”

“If you have MPS and have not been correctly diagnosed, and are subsequently not being treated correctly,” Dr. Rosa states, “your condition will not improve. Pain pills will only relieve symptoms temporarily and surgery is not an option.” Dr. Rosa emphasizes, “There are many natural, safe, and effective treatments that can provide relief from MPS.”

National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa Calls For Greater Awareness Of And Attention To The Growing Problem Of Mental Health And Addiction.

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author, and dynamic speaker, reveals information about the growth of mental health and addiction issues that were bad pre-pandemic and have grown exponentially throughout the duration of the pandemic showing no signs of stopping..

ROCKVILLE, MD. February 13, 2023: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new blog on his website entitled “The Growing Problem Of Mental Health Problems And Addiction,” in which Dr. Rosa acknowledges that “The repercussion of this societal unrest is going to be a tsunami of addiction and suicide rates like we have not seen to date.”

Dr. Rosa writes, “The World Health Organization (WHO) recently published information on their website stating, “In a survey from June 2020, 13% of adults reported new or increased substance use due to coronavirus-related stress, and 11% of adults reported thoughts of suicide in the past 30 days. Suicide rates have long been on the rise and may worsen due to the pandemic.” He continues, “Additional research indicates that, ‘43% of people in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment for nonmedical use of prescription painkillers have a diagnosis or symptoms of mental health disorders, particularly depression and anxiety.’” In fact,” Dr. Rosa notes, “the National Institute on Drug Abuse provides data that shows approximately one in four people with a serious mental illness also has a substance use disorder. Serious Mental Illnesses include schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder”

“I can assure you,” Dr. Rosa emphasizes, “that while the numbers I quoted above are based on polls and statistics, the reality from someone with boots on the ground is that any addiction has a mental health issue intertwined.” He elaborates, “The mental health issue can be present before, occur during, and will always be around after, addiction takes its hold. The myth that “1 in 5 have anxiety or depression” needs to go away because the fact is that 5 in 5 have mental health. We are all in flux which means we are all at risk.”

As Dr. Rosa points out, “The fact is that mental health and addiction disorders are very much intertwined throughout society, throughout the world. The prevalence of mental health issues was up substantially in 2019, pre-pandemic, and the situation has only gotten worse through the COVID years.” He goes on to add, “With the disruption in services due to the pandemic, those with SUD had nowhere to turn. And those experiencing mental health issues, possibly for the first time, have had little to no access to services. The repercussion of this societal unrest is going to be a tsunami of addiction and suicide rates like we have not seen to date.”

National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa Shares Results Of A 2018 Study Revealing That Doctors Change Opioid Prescription Frequency When They Find Out Their Patients Overdosed.

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author, and dynamic speaker, encourages letting doctors who prescribe opioids know that their patients overdose to help reduce number of opioid prescriptions.

ROCKVILLE, MD. February 1, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new blog on his website entitled “It Helps To Let Doctors Know Their Patients Suffered Fatal Opioid Overdose,” in which Dr. Rosa acknowledges that “It’s a small yet significant step toward reducing the number of opioid prescriptions.

Dr. Rosa states, “The results of a recently released 2018 study reveals that letting doctors know that their patients suffered fatal opioid overdose seems to influence how quick they are to prescribe opioids in the future.” He continues, “The study found that letting doctors know through an informative letter from their county’s medical examiner that a patient they had prescribed opioids for had suffered a fatal overdose reduced the number of opioid prescriptions they wrote over the next three months.” As Dr. Rosa notes, “The fact is that most doctors are unaware of the fate that so many of their patients on opioids face.”

“According to an article published at medicalxpress.com,” Dr. Rosa writes, “The research team “sent letters to 809 clinicians— predominantly medical doctors—who had prescribed opioids to 166 people who had suffered fatal overdoses in San Diego County. The letter was intended to be informative and respectful in tone while providing information about safer prescribing. The researchers compared prescribing patterns among these clinicians to those who had not received the letter.”

According to the article, “While there was a gradual reduction in opioid prescribing across the board, study authors found the rate of the reduction was faster and more robust among those who received the letter. After one year, those who received the letter wrote 7% fewer prescriptions than clinicians who hadn’t received the notification.”

National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa Expresses Concern That Little Of The $26 Billion Opioid Settlement Monies Will Go Toward The Prevention Of Drug Use.

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author, and dynamic speaker, writes about the legal stipulations in the drug settlement case stating how the majority of the funds must be spent, and voices his concerns about how little if any will be spent on drug use prevention.

ROCKVILLE, MD. December 19, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new blog on his website entitled “It’s Highly Unlikely That The $26 Billion Opioid Settlement Will Prevent Future Drug Use.” Dr. Rosa expresses his concern that not only will drug prevention not be addressed but that greater drug use will be perpetrated.

Dr. Rosa writes, “Thousands of U.S. communities have received opioid recovery funds from the $26 billion global settlements involving the “Big Three” drug distributors AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health, and McKesson, along with opioid manufacturer Johnson & Johnson.” He continues, “Whether or not individual families who have been hard hit will see any of this money remains to be seen. But the legal arrangement specifies that states must spend “at least 70% of the money for opioid-related expenses in the coming years and includes a list of qualifying expenses like expanding access to treatment and buying the overdose reversal medication naloxone. Fifteen percent of the funds can be used for administrative expenses or for governments to reimburse past opioid-related expenses.”

“My concern with the ‘arrangement,’” Dr. Rosa states, “is that with billions in lawsuits money non or little of it will be used on the prevention of drug use. There are many states putting most or all of the monies received into the “general fund” to make up for money spent on combating the crisis.” According to Dr. Rosa, “With that mentality this crisis will never end.” He emphasizes, “We can’t keep putting money into naloxone and treatment centers alone because that says to me that as long as we can reverse an overdose and treat those addicted, we can continue to get more and more people addicted.”

National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa Writes About How Lucky Matthew Perry Is To Be Alive To Tell His Tale Of Opioid Addiction.

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author and dynamic speaker recognizes how incredibly fortunate the actor, Matthew Perry is to be alive to tell his tale in his book, Friends, Lovers, and the Terrible Big Thing. He expresses his hopes that Mr. Perry will do some greater good with his good fortune to help stem the opioid epidemic that has taken more than a million lives and almost took his life.

ROCKVILLE, MD. December 6, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new article on his website entitled “Still Alive To Tell The Terrible Tale Of Opioid Addiction.” Dr. Rosa acknowledges that few people are as fortunate as Mr. Perry is to be alive to tell his tale.

Dr. John Rosa

Dr. Rosa writes, “Matthew Perry, the actor who is most notably recognized as the character Chandler Bing that he played in the long-running Friends sitcom, has published a book entitled, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” He reveals, “The “big terrible thing” in Mr. Perry’s life is his addiction to opioids.”

“Perry’s addiction to opioids began,” Dr. Rosa points out, “like most people’s do, after being injured in a jet ski accident after which he was prescribed Vicodin by his doctor. In fact,” he adds, “research shows that “people are 240% more likely to become persistent users of opioids after suffering an injury than those prescribed opioids who did not have an injury.”

Dr. Rosa continues to elaborate on Mr. Perry’s tale, writing, “According to an article published on the Alternative Pain Treatment website, ‘It didn’t take long for Perry to become addicted to Vicodin. Within 18 months, he was taking as many as 55 pills a day (the maximum daily dose is 6 pills). He went to great lengths to get opioids, faking injuries, and scheduling MRIs with different doctors. Perry became so desperate for drugs that he would go to real estate open houses so he could search through people’s medicine cabinets.’”

“As some experts point out in the same article,” Dr. Rosa notes, “opioid addiction can occur after just 5 days of regular use. So, as you can see, it doesn’t take long at all. When you consider that 2.5 million young adults reported misusing opioids in the past year, it’s easy to see how out of control opioids are.”

It is noted in the book that, “Perry’s many years of drug abuse took a terrible toll on his body. In 2018, Perry’s colon ruptured due to his overuse of OxyContin. He went into a coma for two weeks before spending the next five months in the hospital. Although given just a 2 percent chance of survival, Perry recovered. It is also noted that, “He has had 14 surgeries and used a colostomy bag for nearly a year. Perry has attended 6,000 AA meetings, gone to rehab 15 times, been in detox 65 times, and spent as much as $9 million to get sober.”

“While I wish him well, and based on his history,” Dr. Rosa states, “even though Perry has survived despite the odds being against him, there’s no assurances that he will stay clean. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, there is a 40 to 60 percent relapse rate among those who seek substance abuse treatment.”

Dr. Rosa urges, “Anyone and everyone who is living with chronic pain must fully grasp and deeply digest the following sentence. “When it comes to relieving pain, there are widespread knowledge gaps on the part of conventionally-trained physicians, who on average receive less than two hours of education on pain in medical school.”” He continues adding, “Posted at www.paintreatmentdirectory.com in an article entitled, Trying Everything for Chronic Pain, this sentence could provide a sense of relief and perhaps greater hopefulness for those who do suffer from chronic pain. The fact of the matter is,” Dr. Rosa says, “that treated correctly and consistently, most chronic pain – which only means that some pain lasts longer than most pain – can be cured or substantially reduced.”

According to Dr. Rosa, “Another bit of information for those who suffer chronic pain and seek treatment from mainstream medical professionals is that “Most of their post-graduate information comes from drug company reps, drug company-sponsored conferences and medical journals that stay afloat with drug company advertising.” The article continues with, “If you’re depending on a conventionally trained physician to guide you in managing your pain, you will not learn about the many non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical options that are available for pain relief. These alternative options are often more effective and much safer.” https://www.paintreatmentdirectory.com/posts/trying-everything-for-chronic-pain

After pointing out the numerous options available through insurance that don’t work, including opioids, surgeries, injections and more, Dr. Rosa states, “The sad and seemingly criminal truth is that people in pain are being denied insurance coverage for safer, more effective treatments including physical therapy, massage, chiropractic, biofeedback, acupuncture, marijuana, low level laser therapy, psychotherapy, nutritional and herbal interventions and more.” He acknowledges that, “In some cases, such as with chiropractic and physical therapy, some insurance covers limited treatment. But far too often the coverage isn’t appropriate for the correct term of treatment.”

Dr. Rosa urges, “We need a law that requires health insurance companies to cover all proven effective treatments for pain to the same degree that they cover pharmaceuticals. We also need a law that requires physicians to be educated about the other alternative therapies.”

National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa
Promotes Mental Health Awareness By Focusing On The Global Addiction To Smart Phones.

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author and dynamic speaker writes about a recent survey highlighting that the global addiction to smart phones began long before the pandemic brought the depression, anxiety and mental illness issues caused by this addiction to the foreground.

ROCKVILLE, MD. October 30, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new article on his website entitled “How Smart Is Our Addiction To Smart Phones.” Dr. Rosa acknowledges that the entire world is suffering from an addiction that simply cannot be considered smart.

Dr. Rosa writes, “October is just one of the months throughout each year that many organizations work to raise awareness about mental health issues. Whether your focus is on National Depression and Health Screening or World Mental Health, Mental Illness Awareness, as far as I’m concerned, the topic of mental health cannot be overstated, nor can it be talked about too much. And,” he emphasizes, “it turns out that our addiction to smart phones is not so smart.”

“According to a recent study,” says Dr. Rosa, “Mental health issues in our world populations have been steadily escalating for the last three decades. Most recently it became a primary public health concern as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the issue to the forefront. The World Health Organization (WHO) released a scientific brief in March 2022 stating that the already existing global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by yet another 25% in 2020 as populations struggled with the fear and social isolation that accompanied the stress of quarantines and shutdowns.”

“It is my intention,” Dr. Rosa writes, “to continue to write and speak about this issue to bring more and more people into the discussion. Because the addiction is so widespread,” he adds, “it’s often more difficult to penetrate the awareness of those who are addicted. The same thing is true of drug addicts – it’s difficult to acknowledge to themselves that they have a problem.” Dr. Rosa asks, “How do we raise awareness about this global addiction that is on one hand giving us access to information we could never have imagined 30 years ago, while simultaneously destroying our peace of mind and our health? Once again, the topic cannot be overstated.”

ROCKVILLE, MD. September 28, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new blog on his website entitled “Pain Relief That Doesn’t Come In A Bottle: Part Two – Touch.” Dr. Rosa encourages those in pain to explore pain management alternatives with a sense of fun and adventure.

“Back in August,” Dr. Rosa states, “I wrote about forest bathing as a wonderful way to relieve pain without a prescription. This is the second piece in which I focus on another way of relieving pain without a pill. This time the topic is that of touch.”

Dr. Rosa states, “The information I’m offering here is from Alternative Pain Treatment Directory, which I highly recommend you subscribe to if you live with chronic pain and prefer to manage your pain without pills.” He continues adding, “We humans are sensitive to the healing power of touch. In fact, if newborn babies are never touched, they can fail to thrive, lose weight, and even die. It is also known that babies and young children who do not get touched have lower levels of growth hormone. A lack of touch can stunt a child’s growth.”
According to Dr. Rosa, “When it comes to treating chronic pain, the power of touch is often underestimated. Any kind of touch therapy can very pleasurable while also relieving pain.”

National Opioid Crisis Expert, Dynamic Speaker And Author, Dr. John Rosa Highlights Recent Harris Poll Results About The Association Between Mental And Physical Pain

Dr. John P. Rosa, opioid crisis expert, author and dynamic speaker reminds readers that September is Drug-Free Pain Management Awareness Month and offers recent poll results regarding mental and physical pain along with alternative drug-free ways of managing pain.

ROCKVILLE, MD. September 9, 2022: Dr. John Rosa, dynamic speaker, national opioid crises expert, and co-author of The Recipe for Success with Jack Canfield, posted a new article on his website entitled “September is “Drug-Free Pain Management Awareness Month.” Dr. Rosa acknowledges that COVID-19 brought the association between mental and physical pain to greater awareness.

Dr. Rosa writes, “We didn’t see it coming, but we are feeling the full effect of its brute force: the collision of mental health and physical pain.” According to Dr. Rosa, “The healthcare community has been aware of the relationship between the two for quite some time. However, COVID-19 has broadened the public’s understanding of this association. What is becoming more apparent,” Dr. Rosa states, “is that it is counterproductive to treat one condition without treating the other. Unfortunately,” He adds, “there has been far too great an emphasis on the treatment of physical pain without considering the emotional/mental aspect of pain. This has resulted in the epidemic of opioid use and abuse that we find ourselves faced with as a society today.”

“During the month of September,” Dr. Rosa writes, “I would like to turn your attention to the benefits of drug-free pain management. This more holistic and healthy approach to pain management and relief is finally coming to the forefront as we are witnessing the devastating consequences of trying to solve our pain issues with pills and surgeries.”

Dr. Rosa notes, “In a very recent Harris Poll the results of which were released on July 26, 2022, it was discovered that, “Nearly half of U.S. adults (44%) report that they have experienced physical pain that they believe was worsened due to mental or emotional pain.” Additional findings show that women report worse physical pain than men do.”48% of women reported worse physical pain due to mental or emotional pain compared to only 39% of men. Women ages 35 to 44 most often reported the link (69%) while men ages 65 and older least often reported greater physical pain due to mental or emotional pain (17%).” The Harris Poll was conducted on behalf of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP), a nonprofit dedicated to informing and educating the general public about the value of drug-free chiropractic care.”
